Sligo is so unique, ocean and mountains so close. It will be difficult another place in Ireland take the 1st place in my heart.
This trip had everything to go very wrong and it was in the beginning. I have to explain why. First, I booked a hotel room for the wrong dates. I booked for Friday and Saturday instead of Saturday and Sunday. On Friday night, at almost 8 pm, I received a call from the hotel, basically, it was "Aline your check-in is today". My legs are gone.
But don't worry, things could still be worse, on Sunday would be the anniversary of my relationship. Feeling very embarrassed I explained to my partner that I had made a mistake about the dates, and at 11 pm, we got to book a Airbnb for the next day, to be there in less than 24 hours.
From here everything started to work very well. We got the train to Sligo with the folding bikes (you don't need to book seats for folding bike, because they fit in the bag shelves area), and now it was just to enjoy the landscapes.
Frist day - 24th September
In the first day we ate in Harp Tavern, visited Sligo Abbey and Sligo County Museum, we walked around the city centre, we cycled to Rosses Point, after to Carney Village where was the Airbnb that we booked, this trip wouldn't be same without this accommodation.

We had a fantastic time in Kathleen's place, the room is so beautiful, the breakfast homemade and fresh, I could see love and care in each detail. She and her husband provided a place to store our bikes, we spent a long time chatting about everything and I tried an authentic Irish whiskey with an Irish family in the Irish countryside. I can say that it was one the best experiences I lived in Ireland, when I was coming back to Dublin I was missing them, It felt like I had visited a friend I hadn't seen in 20 years.

The house is a historical cottage, over 200 years in Georgian style or vintage. With books and suitcases that are part of the family history. I think this is so special and unique.
Second day - 25th
Kathleen advised us to visit the Glencar Waterfall and Glencar Lough. We took the bikes and the road to visit Lissadell House, which was close. We saw alpacas and then we went to Glencar Lough and Glencar Waterfall ridding pretty close Benbulben montains, we saw country cottages, amazing landscapes, the lake, waterfall. We finish the Sligo journey having dinner in the Hooked Restaurant.
It was more than 70 km by bicycle, riding up mountains and crossing the city twice. Yeah, I was tired, but the Irish countryside is so beautiful, that I could cross the country by bicycle just to enjoy the landscapes.
